Gulf Hagas Rim Trail

Appropriately nicknamed The Grand Canyon of Maine. This magnificent gorge is nearly 4 miles long, displaying vertical slate walls 300' to 400' deep. The west branch of the Pleasant River drops some 400' in this distance, creating numerous waterfalls, chutes, and pools.

Katahdin Iron Works & Surrounding Areas

Millinocket, Maine

Today, the skeletons of a blast furnace and charcoal kiln stand silent, lone remnants of the Katahdin Iron Works.

Beautiful scenery and numerous recreational opportunities surround KIW, including Gulf Hagas.

Mount Kineo

Rockwood, Maine

Located on a peninsula in the center of Moosehead Lake, the southeastern face of Mt. Kineo rises dramatically 800 feet straight out of the water. This famous landmark can be seen by driving north of Greenville, to Rockwood. From Rockwood, you must go to Kineo by boat. Three trails, the Indian Trail, Bridle Trail and North Trail, lead to the top.

Moxie Falls

Shirley, Maine

Moxie Falls is one of the highest falls in Maine. The main drop is over 30 yards. The walk into Moxie Falls from the parking area is one of the most beautiful trails you shall encounter.

off the Elliotsville Road, Monson

Little Wilson Falls is one of the highest falls in Maine, with the main drop being 13 yards. It has a long canyon below with many scenic views. Trails are accessible by the Appalachian Trial. There are many walking trails from the lower falls that will take you to the Wilson Gorge in about an hour's time.
